Information technology is the field of study, design, development, implementation, support and management of computer based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware. In general Information Technology helps to produce,manipulate,store,communicate and disseminate information.

Career Prospects

The importance of Information Technology (IT) is very fast increasing. More and more companies are investing in developing IT. Job scope in IT sector is very wide right from computer hardware and networking to software. At least 3 million jobs in the IT sector are available for new graduates every year. Applicants with the college degree in Information Technology will qualify for employment as entry level computer software engineers,website development,network engineers,system administrators,database administrators,information system manager,system analyst and network system professionals. It is clear that IT brings numerous improvement to organizations. Daily operations become more productive and manual work is minimized.

Eligibility

The candidates who have passed 10+2 Examination or its equivalent examination conduct by a recognized board / university/ council, securing passing marks, shall be eligible for admission to the course. The candidates who have appeared in 10+2 examination are also eligible to apply for this course the candidates who have passed Matriculation examination and have also passed Diploma in any engineering trade from any recognized Technical Education Board, Chandigarh or SLIET- Lonogowal, shall also be eligible for admission.
